JP Infratech Ltd., has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court to appoint Arbitration Tribunal to resolve its dispute with Yamuna Expressway. A division bench comprising Justice Arun Tandon and Justice Naheed Ara Moonis passed the order to refer their disputes to the Arbitration Tribunal after hearing both the sides.

There was a dispute going on between Yamuna Expressway Authority and JP Infratech Ltd in connection with enhanced compensation to land owners whose land was acquired for the construction of Yamuna Expressway.
It was contended in the petition that Yamuna Expressway Authority had sent a notice to the petitioners, demanding enhanced compensation that was payable to the land owners. JP's stand was that it had already paid the amount as per its agreement with the Yamuna Expressway Authority. Therefore, it is not entitled to pay money to the land owners.
Yamuna Expressway Authority contended that in Gajraj Singh case, the Supreme Court has enhanced compensation to land owners whose land has been acquired by the state government. Therefore, because of this judgment, land owners were entitled for the enhanced compensation, which must be paid by the JP Infratech.
JP Infratech Ltd had challenged the notice of Yamuna Expressway Authority, demanding enhanced compensation. The court declined to give any relief to the petitioner and referred the dispute to the arbitration. It is now the Arbitration Tribunal yet to be formed has to take up the dispute. Many such disputes are pending between many contractors and NH also.
